This Metagora activity aims at identifying, documenting and making known current and recent work in the field of measuring Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance.

In line with the specific bottom-up approach that characterises Metagora, the focus is laid on initiatives undertaken by local, national and regional organizations, with particular emphasis on developing countries. Thus, the activity aims at providing for the first time an extensive overview of the state of the art in the field of DHRG monitoring and measurement methods and an inventory of those initiatives, precious in providing guidance to practitioners and institutions interested in benefiting from relevant existing expertness and lessons learned around the world.

The activity consists in the implementation of a world-wide survey asking concerned organizations and institutions to fill in the questionnaire available above. The answers will help to build an inventory of initiatives that will be made public in the form of an on-line repository designed as a user-friendly research (coming up on this website).

The Task Team on the Inventory of Initiatives is currently working in informal but close collaboration with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international organisations, which are engaged in the field of democracy, human rights, and governance indicators and measurement methods.
