Metagora Events

— places of exchange and mutual review

Facilitating a dialogue between and among the worldwide communities of statisticians and experts in the fields of democracy, human rights and governance – such was the original idea of the Montreux conference "Statistics, Development and Human Rights" in 2000.

This idea is the basis of events of various natures organized within the framework of Metagora today: The dialogue established serves as a platform on which mutual review of survey plans, conceptual issues and results by an expert community lead to an enhancement of methods, tools and frameworks for measuring democracy, human rights and governance.

The thematic scope of the meetings may vary: Whereas the Metagora Partners Group serves to exchange opinions on all pilot activities, the reduced Task Teams are concentrating on a specific issue, such as questionnaires drafted to capture a single aspect of human rights. However different the nature of meetings, they all allow for cross-fertilization between actors with different backgrounds sharing the same goals.
